Pebble Island have around 4500 Merino sheep, all of which are EID tagged.  EID tags allow us to collect data from the animals individually to ensure we keep improving our quality of wool and the general health and vigour of the flock.  This means the sheep are tested for the finest microns to ensure the best breeding process.

We blade (hand) shear our sheep, an old fashioned method which we chose to revert to some years ago to try and ensure the highest welfare standards that we can.  Blade shearing leaves a longer length of wool on the animals but just as importantly it doesn’t strip the protective lanolin from the sheep’s fibres.  This method of harvesting the wool ensures that the sheep stay warm and have more protection from the unpredictable Falkland Islands climate.

The wool is milled and knitted in the UK using a seamless knit meaning there is no waste and this makes the jumper comfortable to wear.

These jumpers are now available to purchase from the Stanley Tourist Jetty Centre or alternatively contact us directly using our contact us page, we are able to post anywhere in the world.

Sizes S/M/L/XL/XXL are available to purchase.
