Our story
We are Alex and Dot Gould, we have two children, George and Kate, both of whom are overseas furthering their education.
Our background is mostly farming and contracting but also a few other jobs such as, policing, nursing and hospitality.
Together we form a pretty good team, we love farming but also enjoy welcoming visitors to the island and tailoring their time here to their needs, whether it be enjoying the wildlife, visting the memorials from the 1982 conflict and learning the history of events or simply enjoying the landscapes.
We run approximately 4500 fine wool sheep on the island along with 60 head of beef cattle and followers.
We chose to go back to the artisan method of Hand or Blade shearing our sheep some years ago, mainly due to our climate and details we shan’t bore you with!
We are proud of the wool we produce now and are working towards improving our farm every year.
We are aware of climate change and environmental issues and would embrace any methods that can used to improve our sustainability.
We are very fortunate to live on such an exceptional island and love to share it with others so if you have any queries please do contact us. We can offer you a more farming based experience if you wish. We look forward to welcoming you.
